Willy's Donair Poutine

Donair Poutine. Don't you love the way it rolls off your tongue as you say it? It's almost like it's lubricated with lots of gravy and cheese curds. After a friend and I decided to detour to Willy's, we discovered that it's even more fun to eat than it is to say.

The first thing you'll notice about Willy's is that you order standing about 2 or 3 feet lower than their kitchen floor. This may seem odd, but it gives you an amazing perspective to watch your food being prepped! The next time I am there - perhaps to try their Titanic Burger - I will likely get some video of the whole process just so you can see the difference perspective makes.

Now, sometimes when you have poutine, the fries are soggy. Sometimes the gravy isn't quite right for whatever else is in the poutine. Sometimes the cheese curds aren't really quite what you expected, or they melt into nothingness. There are so many ways for a poutine to go south that its actually difficult to find stellar poutine.

After a little visit to Willy's, I think I've now found my new favorite, even beating out the Elvis Poutine at the Lion's Head (which I would gladly link to, except they don't seem to have a web site. Hello, isn't this 2012?)

Poutine with tomatos, onions, and lots of bite size chunks of donair meat. Bite after bite of nirvana sliding past your lips, and making your mouth sing with delight. Fries that are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, gravy that compliments without overpowering the donair meat, and real, honest cheese curds.

If you're a fan of donairs, and you like poutine, this is one combo that you can't afford to miss. Check it out.
