Spicy Hawaiian Dogs

Lots of folks are putting new twists on old food - anything to innovate and make folks try something new and different. Unfortunately, lots of these innovations just aren't anything more than the marketing department casting a line into the pool and seeing if anything bites. Purple ketchup, for instance.

Thankfully, the grand master of steamed dogs at @HFXFL have come up with something both innovative and tasty.

Starting with a dog of strong heritage, steam is applied to both the bun and the dog until they reach the desired temperature and consistency. A slice of strongly cured and salted bacon is placed in the bun, alongside the dog. To this already meat-a-riffic combination, add small chunks or crushed pineapple, and a strip or two of hot sauce.

Now, you may ask, why does this combination work together? The salty of the bacon works very well with the sweet pineapple, and when put together with the bacon and the dog, you have something pretty awesome. The hot sauce infuses the bun with just enough extra zip to make it a wonderfully different experience than the usual dog.
