A burger with bacon - and bacon jam!

Everyone who likes bacon has had a burger with bacon on it. Maybe you really like bacon, and have gone to Wendy's for a baconator. It's even possible you went for a code blue here in Halifax.

But if you like bacon, this burger's for you.

Starting with some ground beef, some onion was chopped up and added, and to keep things different, couscous! Not something you usually find in a burger, but tasty nonetheless. The burgers will disintegrate unpon re-entry into a bun unless you also throw in an egg to keep them all together. The beef, onions, egg and couscous got made into balls, pressed into patties, and sent into the trusty George Foreman.

Just the smell was enough to make my mouth water.

While the burgers were cooking, salad was assembled from spinach, apple chunks, and walnuts, with raspberry vinaigrette drizzled over the top.

Now, where's the bacon you might ask? Bacon came from two sources for this burger. A pair of strips were added on top, and spread on the bun was bacon jam. Bacon what? Think strawberry jam, minus the strawberries, and add bacon. Yes, it's as good as you think it is, maybe even better.

Put this all together and you have a very, very satisfying meal of burger and bacon (and salad. can't forget the non-bacon salad.)

Even kitty likes it!

thanks to Nadine for all the hard kitchen work.
